The Standard Pamukkale & Hierapolis Ticket – What's Included

When you buy a combined Pamukkale & Hierapolis ticket, you get access to three main areas within the same site. You can enter through either the Northern Gate (on foot) or the South Gate and explore at your own pace. There is no time limit—you can stay until closing.

1. Pamukkale Travertine Terraces

The dazzling white terraces and pools are the iconic heart of Pamukkale. Your ticket includes unlimited access to walk barefoot across the travertines, take photos, and enjoy the thermal water flowing over the calcium formations. The terraces stretch from the top of the hill down to the lower pools. You can enter from the top (Northern Gate) and walk down, or from the bottom (South Gate) and walk up. The entire travertine area is included in your main ticket.

2. Ancient City of Hierapolis

Hierapolis was a thriving Greco-Roman city built on the thermal springs. Your ticket includes access to all the main ruins within the archaeological site, including:

• Hierapolis Theatre – One of the best-preserved ancient theatres in Turkey, with stunning views over the valley
• Necropolis – One of the largest ancient cemeteries in Anatolia, with tombs and sarcophagi
• Frontinus Street – The main colonnaded street of the city
• Apollo Temple – Remains of the sacred temple and Plutonium
• Roman Baths – The structure that now houses the museum
• Agora, Nymphaeum, and other ruins – Temples, fountains, and public buildings

You can spend several hours exploring the ancient city. Bring comfortable shoes—the paths are uneven and can be slippery in places.

3. Hierapolis Archaeological Museum

The museum is housed in the former Roman baths and displays artefacts excavated from Hierapolis and the surrounding region. Your ticket includes admission. Exhibits include sculptures, sarcophagi, inscriptions, and everyday objects from Roman and Byzantine times. Allow 45–60 minutes to explore. The museum is located within the main site, so you do not need to leave and re-enter.

What's NOT Included – Separate Tickets Required

Some attractions require an additional ticket. The most notable is the Ancient Pool.

Ancient Pool (Cleopatra's Pool / Thermal Pool)

The famous pool where you can swim among submerged Roman columns in mineral-rich thermal water is not included in the standard Pamukkale & Hierapolis ticket. You must buy a separate add-on ticket at the pool entrance or when purchasing your main ticket. The pool is a highlight for many visitors—plan 1–2 hours if you want to swim. It has its own opening hours (typically 08:00–20:00) and capacity limits, so it can get busy in peak season.

Laodicea Ancient City

Laodicea is a separate archaeological site about 10 km from Pamukkale. It is not part of the Pamukkale & Hierapolis ticket. If you want to visit Laodicea, you need a separate ticket. Many visitors combine both sites in one day—Pamukkale in the morning, Laodicea in the afternoon.

Turkey Museum Pass

If you have a Turkey Museum Pass (Müze Kart), you can enter the main Pamukkale & Hierapolis site without buying an additional ticket. The pass covers the travertines, ancient city, and museum. The Ancient Pool (Cleopatra's Pool) is still a separate charge—the Museum Pass does not include it.
